If you want some background first, here is an introduction to me. You may already know that I was obese and very unfit up to the age of 50. A warning from my doctor changed all that, and I'm now far fitter and healthier at age 62 than I ever was in my 20's, 30's and 40's. I moved fitness from being a doctor's instruction in my life into a hobby, then a career, and now my passion. The proof that my obese days are gone lies in my trophy cabinet, as I'm the current World Champion Miami Pro Fitness Model for the over-50 age group - as well as holding a range of other trophies and awards in the fitness industry.

The paperwork shows I have an International Diploma in Advanced Personal Training as well as Advanced Certification in Nutrition for Weight Loss and Nutrition for Physical Performance. But perhaps more important than that is I can combine formal learning with total hands-on experience of the best 'Fat-To-Fit-at-Fifty' story I know - my own!

Having made a major difference to my own fitness, I'm keen to help other over-50's do the same, through my radio, TV, video, books and my Personal Training services. In PT, I have already helped dozens of my Personal Training clients towards their fit-up and fat-down goals by my approach of focussing on three elements - movement, nutrition and attitude. Plus a fourth, more subtle one; providing the motivation to help them keep on-track between our sessions. None of my clients has yet followed me onto the competition stage – but my approach has helped all to make significant progress on their fitness, vitality and health.

I have an obsession with incremental progress and am a big believer in written progress tracking. My view is that 'Measurement is Motivation' and I find monitoring in this way leads to success in achieving the short, medium and long term goals agreed with my clients. Expect to see your progress documented by lots of spreadsheets if you become a client of mine!

TFO - Total Fitness Online

Take a look at the description of the Exercise and Lifestyle Online plan (ELO). The TFO plan takes ELO into the kitchen, and adds nutritional guidance to the mix. All the exercise and lifestyle factors from the ELO plan are there, plus I’ll work with you to develop a nutritional approach (I’m not going to use the D word!) that will see success.

The initial assessment will take a little longer than with ELO – perhaps 90 minutes – and its important I understand your dietary likes and dislikes. Nothing is forbidden if it makes you happy by the way – the portion size or timing may be adjusted, but it will still be there. Any nutrition plan has zero chance of success if it takes all your likes out of the equation.

As with ELO, the Total Fitness Online plan is absolutely personalised and unique to you – and we’ll discuss and agree together what is achievable here given your own preferences and constraints. There may be many factors outside the kitchen that play a part – work, social life and most likely of all, family – and all these need to be considered. It isn’t going to work if it doesn’t fit in with you – and its your job to believe that it will work, because you have helped design it.

And everything from the ELO plan is included too – the TFO plan adds nutritional advice and guidance to make it a complete exercise, nutrition and lifestyle solution to help you succeed.

I’d be happy to receive a daily food diary if you are up to it, and perform an analysis upon it – but I realise that is a burden too far for some, and if it is for you, we’ll discuss it in our regular follow up sessions. As with ELO, there are follow up sessions every two weeks – seeing how the plan has performed and modifying it to suit any successes or concerns – so that it remains a plan that you are committed to. And, of course, there is continuing email support from me throughout.

As well as the videos, photos and spreadsheets from ELO, I also include nutrition guidelines and food lists as well as suggested meals (made up from ingredients that you like, of course!).

The fee for the Total Fitness Online plan is £160 per month inclusive of all plan materials, and unlimited e-mail support.
